Feel your feet. Press your hands together. Notice temperature, texture, and pressure.
This signals safety to your body faster than words ever could.
2️⃣ Lengthen Your Exhale
When you exhale longer than you inhale, your vagus nerve activates the parasympathetic system — your body’s natural “calm” switch.
Try a 4-count inhale and 6-count exhale for 2 minutes.
3️⃣ Name What’s True
Say out loud (or write down):
“My body feels ______.”
“My need right now is ______.”
This bridges the gap between emotion and cognition — a cornerstone of regulation and emotional literacy.
